So it is the first week of school and this time of the year always reminds me of when Heather and I got engaged. It was the third week of school two years ago....... holy cow time flies. A lot of people have heard of our story but for those of you who haven't, here you go. About a year and a half into my mission I got an e-mail from my former trainer who had been home now. He told me how he was in Provo working with this beautiful girl from Las Vegas and he was going to have her write me. About a week later another mission friend e-mailed me telling me that he also worked with this girl and that they have been encouraging her to write me cause it would be way to funny if we got married (good joke huh?). Well after a couple of weeks I decided to e-mail this mystery girl. I wasn't to impressed when I saw her e-mail address (sorry Heather) it was flirtqueen147, or something like that, but what the heck right? So I sent a very basic e-mail telling her about myself and that Tyrone and James told me that I am supposed to e-mail her. Well she e-mailed back the next week. That happened a couple of times, the e-mailing back and forth, and then around Nov ( this all happened Aug- Sept) I decided to write an actual letter and send some pictures. They weren't very flattering of me merely cause I was a missionary; how often do you stop and take a flattering pic? Well that didn't matter very much cause Heather got the letter looked at the pictures and then.... well..... she lost the letter, never read it. Poor Elder Wong. Oh well it was fun for awhile. So time went on and it came time for me to go home. So on my second to last p-day I saved e-mails from family and friends and sent e-mails letting everyone know I was coming home so no more e-mailing. I sent one to Heather and said hey I am going to be home in a couple of weeks, why don't you give me your number and I can take you out when you are in town, she was living in Provo going to school. Hey don't judge, ya I asked a girl out while I was a missionary, so shoot me, we were taught to be prepared. Well a couple of weeks went by and I decided to go up and visit family and mission friends in Utah. On my last day in Provo I called Heather on the way home from snowboarding, and asked if she wanted to go out. She was busy that night but the next day was having a birthday party and I should come. Well I made the choice to go hang out with a buddy of mine, I know kind of silly. Heather was a little taken back but she got over it. Spring break came and Heather was coming home to Vegas, so on her way home I called her to go out when she got into town that night cause I was not going to be available the rest of the week that she would be there. I know our timing was a little off. So even though she hadn't had a shower in about four days (sorry again Heather) she agreed. We went out for ice cream at cold stone that night and spent the whole time listening to me babble on about my mission, kind of lame ya, but Heather was so super sweet and let me go on as she sat and smiled. There were a few things about that night that I will never forget. First, I had a horrible migraine headache up until the date but it was gone the whole time we where together. Second, when I first laid eyes upon Heather, literally being that our contact was all e-mail and phone calls, I thought she was the most beautiful women I had ever seen (she didn't smell bad either). Third and final thing, as we sat and talked, the spirit spoke to me in the most powerful way letting me know that I was going to marry this girl. Wow was that wonderful and a little scary. Well over the next weeks we kept in contact through phone calls and txt messages and then it came to a point where we would stay up for hours every night on the phone talking about anything and everything. I was falling more and more in love with her each conversation. Well she moved home for the summer and it was a summer of love, minus the four weeks I left her for Detroit. I asked her to marry me numerous times and talked about it a lot cause I knew she was the one for me. She kept telling me to shut up, but I didn't. We did so much together that summer from movies, bowling, swimming, going to the lake almost every week, hanging out with family and much more. It was such an amazing time. We moved up to Provo to go to school and as the story goes I proposed at our favorite date spot in the mountains while having a picnic. I had to ask twice so she would say yes. Two and a half months later we were married in the Las Vegas, NV temple and I will never forget that day and my feelings of love, joy, and excitement. I love you babe so much and am blessed every day to call you my own. Happy two year proposal anniversary. I Love You!!! Oh and just so everyone knows Heather found my long lost letter and now keeps it very close to her.
I've heard that story before of course, but it was fun to hear it again and especially from you Jordan. :) You are a very lucky guy if I do say so myself. Heather is a wonderful girl and you guys are lucky to have each other and your beautiful baby girl. :)
